Strikingly did one thing very well for a long time. Single-page sites, quickly, with templates that looked decent on a phone. If that's what you needed, it delivered.

The reason people go looking for alternatives is the editing model. Strikingly is section-based, and reviewers consistently make the same observation: it calls itself drag and drop, but you're mostly choosing between preset layouts inside a section rather than putting things where you want them. That's fine for a landing page. It's frustrating the moment your site becomes a real site.

What it costs, and the page caps

From Strikingly's own pricing page on annual billing: Limited is $8/mo and caps you at 5 pages per site across 2 sites. Pro is $16/mo with up to 100 pages per site and three sites. VIP is $49/mo with five sites and higher storage. Monthly billing costs more. The free plan puts you on a strikingly.com subdomain, so a custom domain means paying.

The five-page cap on the cheapest paid plan is the detail worth noticing. If your business needs a home, about, services, pricing, contact and a blog, you're on Pro. Check their page for current numbers. Ours is at /plans.

Where people go

Squarespace. More design range and better typography defaults. Closed platform, and their export skips styles and custom CSS.

Wix. More freeform, big app market, similar frustration ceiling eventually. Wix says outright that sites can't be exported to another host.

Carrd. If you actually only want one page and you want it cheap, this is the honest answer. Don't overbuy.

Webflow. Full design control, real learning curve, higher cost.

Figment. Design in Figma, publish that file as your site. Below.

None of these import from Strikingly, so you're rebuilding either way. Save your copy and images first.

What Figment gives you that Strikingly doesn't

You own the design file. It's a Figma document in your account. Strikingly holds your site inside its own system, the way every builder in this category does.

There are no sections. That's the point. On a canvas, an element goes where you put it, because you put it there. No preset layout to pick from, no "this section supports two columns."

No page caps as a pricing lever. You draw the pages you need.

Edits are design edits, and publishing takes under a minute. Change a frame, hit publish, done.

The open canvas is also what makes AI useful rather than decorative. In a section system an AI can swap your text into slots that already exist. On a design file it can work on the actual design. Figment has been running since 2021, with around 35,000 signups and just over 20,000 sites published.

Stay on Strikingly if

You genuinely need one page. A launch page, an event, a personal profile. Strikingly's whole reason for existing is this and it does it well. So does Carrd, for less.

You need it live today and you've never opened a design tool. Strikingly will beat us to publish on day one. Figment asks you to design first, which takes an afternoon rather than twenty minutes.

You use their store or membership features and they're working. Ripping out something that works to gain design freedom is a bad trade if design isn't your bottleneck.

Moving off Strikingly

Copy each section's text into a doc and download your images. Screenshot the whole page as a scrolling reference, because your layout is the thing you're recreating.

Rebuild in Figma. Trace your old layout if you liked it, or start from a free community template if the Strikingly look was part of why you're leaving. Make a desktop frame and a mobile frame for each page.

Publish with the Figment plugin, click through the preview URL, then update one DNS record at your registrar. Your old site keeps serving until the switch lands. Cancel after.
