Wix connects to Google Analytics 4 through Marketing Integrations, by adding a Google Tag with your GA4 measurement ID — but Wix states this plainly requires "a Premium site and a connected domain" before the option is available at all. Here's the exact path, sourced from Wix's own help center, and what to check first if your site isn't upgraded or doesn't have its own domain yet.
Two things, stated directly by Wix. First, on the marketing integrations feature generally: "To use marketing integrations, you need to upgrade your site and connect a domain" (Wix, "About Marketing Integrations", checked September 2026). Second, on the Google Tag connection specifically, which is what carries your GA4 measurement ID: it requires "a Premium site and a connected domain" (Wix, "Tracking Events on Your Wix Site with a Google Analytics Property", checked September 2026).
In practice, that means a site still on Wix's free plan can't connect GA4 through this path at all — not because of a separate GA4-specific block, but because Marketing Integrations as a whole sits behind the same upgrade-and-domain requirement. Our guide to what Wix's free plan includes covers what a free wixsite.com site can and can't do, including the fact that a custom domain itself requires upgrading first.
Once your site is on a Premium plan with a connected domain:
Wix's own guidance on what happens next is direct: "It may take some time before you see statistics in your Google Analytics account." Don't treat an empty GA4 report in the first hours as a sign the connection failed.
Because it isn't Analytics-specific. Wix's Marketing Integrations page describes Google Tag as a single connection point for more than one Google product: "Connect a Google Tag to your Wix site in order to use Google Analytics." The same underlying tag is also how Wix's separate Event Manager and Google Ads conversion tracking read data from your site, so setting up Google Tag with your GA4 measurement ID is the same step you'd take whether your immediate goal is GA4 reporting, Google Ads conversion tracking, or both — it's one shared connection, not a separate integration per Google product.
Google's own help center defines the format for what it now calls a Google tag ID: "A Google tag ID is a series of letters and numbers that usually starts with 'G-'" (Google Analytics Help, "About tracking [Google tag ID]", checked September 2026). You find it inside your GA4 property, under Admin → Data Streams → your data stream, where Google's guidance says to "copy the Measurement ID (starts with 'G-' or 'AW-')." That's the exact string you paste into Wix's "Add Google Tag ID" field above — Wix doesn't generate or assign this ID itself, it only stores the one your GA4 property already has.
Google Tag is one entry in a longer list Wix documents under the same Marketing Integrations panel, including Google Tag Manager, Google Ads Conversions, an Event Manager for setting up Google Ads conversions, Meta Pixel and Conversions API, TikTok Pixel, Google Merchant Center, Yandex Metrica, and Ads.txt. All of them sit behind the same site-wide requirement: an upgraded (Premium) plan with a connected domain, not a separate gate per tool.
No — Wix's Marketing Integrations connect outside tools like GA4 to your site; they aren't a replacement for Wix's own site analytics dashboard, which runs independently and doesn't require a GA4 connection to work. If your interest is specifically in Wix's own built-in reporting rather than an outside GA4 property, that's a separate feature with its own plan-based scope, not something this Google Tag connection changes either way.
A short list, based on what Wix actually documents about this setup:
Not for this specific setup — Figment publishes a site from a Figma design through its Figma plugin, and it doesn't have Wix's Marketing Integrations panel or a Google Tag connection to compare against. If your reason for considering a move away from Wix is specifically about analytics or tracking flexibility, that's a narrower question than a full platform switch — check what your current plan already unlocks first, including through our guide to Wix's SEO settings, before assuming you need to change platforms to get GA4 working. And if you're not sure which Wix editor your site actually uses, our Wix Harmony vs. Wix Editor vs. Wix Studio guide covers how to check.
Bottom line: connecting GA4 to Wix means adding a Google Tag with your measurement ID inside Marketing Integrations, and Wix requires a Premium plan and a connected domain before that panel is even available — there's no separate path around it. Once connected, give it time before assuming something's wrong, and double-check the ID for stray spaces or a mismatched GA4 property before troubleshooting further.
