Bolt.new Alternatives: Tokens Are a Bad Currency for Design

Bolt.new runs an entire Node development environment inside your browser through StackBlitz's WebContainer tech, and generates full-stack apps from prompts. Free gives you 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily cap. Pro is $25/mo starting at 10M tokens with rollover, GitHub export and custom domains. Teams is $30 per member per month with tokens not shared across members. Yearly billing saves up to 28 percent.
It's a legitimately impressive piece of engineering and developers get real work out of it. People go looking for Bolt.new alternatives mostly when they realize they're using an app builder to make a website.
Everything in Bolt costs tokens. Every message, every retry, and every large file the model has to read or rewrite. Two people on the same plan can burn very different amounts depending on how they work.
Design iteration is the worst possible workload for that model. Getting a hero section right is twelve small adjustments, each one a message, each one pulling files into context. You end up making design decisions based on your remaining balance, which is a genuinely bad way to make design decisions.
The second problem is who can edit. Bolt's output is a codebase. Your marketing lead can't move a section. Your designer can't fix the spacing that's bothering them. Every change routes through whoever is comfortable prompting a code generator.
Figment publishes websites from Figma. You design frames in a free Figma file, run our plugin, and the site is live on your domain in under a minute. Hosting and SSL included.
The Figma file is the source of truth, so edits are design edits. Unlimited, unmetered, and doable by anyone on your team who can use Figma.
On AI: our website builder is in early access, not generally available, and you request a demo to see it. Bolt's generation works today and ours isn't self-serve yet. That's the accurate statement. The thing I'd argue is that we're building on the right foundation, because AI output is only as good as the canvas it edits. When the model gets the last 10 percent wrong on a design file you own, you fix it yourself in seconds instead of spending another 200K tokens explaining it.
Figment is $29/mo Pro ($288/yr), $89/mo Team ($864/yr), 30-day free trial, plus a free tier on a subdomain with a badge. Flat, not metered.
You're building software. Auth flows, databases, dashboards, anything with logic behind it. Bolt does that and we don't. The GitHub export on Pro means your code is portable, which is more than most builders offer, and the in-browser environment removes a lot of setup friction.
Stay also if you like working in code and the token spend is worth it to you. Plenty of developers do the math and come out ahead.
