Can You Publish a Figma Site on the Free Plan?
You cannot publish a Figma Sites website from the free Starter plan at the time of this update. Figma's pricing FAQ says Sites is available with a Full seat on paid plans. It also says a limited Sites experience for Starter is coming later, but it does not give a release date.
You can still publish a Figma design for free. The current Figment Community plugin publishes top-level frames from a Figma Design file to a hosted figment.so address. The free website has a Figment badge. You do not need a card for Continue with Free.
Figma Sites and Figment are different

Figment does not publish a Figma Sites file in place. If your work is in Figma Sites, recreate the pages that you want to publish as top-level frames in a Figma Design file first.
Figment is also not a code-export route. It publishes and hosts the website. It does not give you downloadable site code.
How to publish from a free Figma plan
These steps match Figment Community version 35.
1. Prepare the top-level frames
Make each website page a direct child of a Figma page. Give each frame a clear name. You can publish between 1 and 100 top-level frames in one website.
2. Open Figment
Open Figment in the Figma Community in your Figma Design file. You can also run it from Saved plugins.
Select Make this website public.
3. Select the frames
Select the homepage first. Confirm that the plugin marks it as Home. Select any other top-level frames that must become separate website pages.
Open Website settings if you want to change the title or free figment.so address.
4. Continue in the browser
Select Make into website. The browser opens for sign-in and plan selection. Sign in, then select Continue with Free.
Return to Figma after the plan choice. Keep Figma and the plugin open while the website is created.
5. Check the result
Wait for Open website. Open the hosted URL and confirm:
- The correct frame is the homepage.
- All intended pages are present.
- Links work.
- Text and images fit at phone and desktop widths.
- The website title is correct.

When a paid Figma Sites plan is the better fit
Use Figma Sites when you want to work in the Sites editor and use its native publishing features. Check the current Figma plan and seat rules before you choose it. Plan access and beta terms can change.
Use Figment when your source is a Figma Design file and you want a hosted website from selected frames. Paid Figment plans add features such as custom domains. The current Figment options are on the plans page.
